Orlando, Florida
I took a trip to Florida in March to go to Microsoft's Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC). I did two demos for the show.
This is the hotel I stayed at. It looked nice, but it wasn't that nice. The one good thing about it was that it was close to the convention center where the show was at.

It was 80 degrees in Orlando. It was in the 60s here in Portland during that same time.

WinHEC was held at the Orange County Convvention Center in Orlando, Florida.

This picture is of my first demo. The picture is difficult to make out. The lighting was bad in that place. Anyway, I was showing off USB and 1394 working together on a system. That person in the picture really is me.

One day after teh show I was talking with a customer about the technologies and things. We talked for an hour or so before he finally left. As soon as he left the guy in the kiosk next to mine told me that Bill Gates had been by looking at his demo. I had missed him. It would have been nice to ask him if Windows 98 was really ever going to ship...

This demo was in the 1394 Trade Association's booth. The system is a prototype system. There is no chasis. We were demonstrating a 1394 hard drive from Seagate. That was pretty cool.

The part of Orlando where we were staying was definitely a tourist trap. There were neat sites like this upsidedown building. You can go inside and they have exhibits and stuff.

This is a close up of the same building. Everything was upside down. They even had a FedEx box upside down!

While I was there I did manage to see some wildlife as well. I didn't see aligators like I wanted, but I did see turtles.

There were also swamps like people had described to me. I saw people fishing in them. I just wish I could have seen an alligator.
